A word about fine silver:

Our fine silver starts in a clay form. This clay is made by extracting the pure silver particles from silver nitrate, a film processing chemical, and suspending these particles in an organic binder and water. The artist can then mold, stamp, carve and shape the clay however they please. The clay is then dried thoroughly and fired in a kiln (or by torch). The resulting piece is 99.9% fine silver, which is considered pure silver, as opposed to sterling silver (92.5%) which is an alloy mixed with copper for strength. Fine silver is a bit more delicate than sterling, so proper care much be taken with these pieces. One benefit of fine silver however, is it is much less likely to tarnish and will clean up quickly with a quick polish.

This medium is truly revolutionary, taking custom jewelry to a whole new level. Fine silver clay in in its infancy, barely more than a decade old, so the future is bright and we should expect to see many great things from the artists who tackle this medium!
